Chloe and Annie

Myself and Annie James are in the process of setting up our own screen print studio; called Chloe and Annie. It will specialise in bespoke screen prints for the interior market.

Heres the progress so far:

Foxglove

Only just graduated, but its back to the print room with Annie for just a bit more printing!

I’m currently working on a piece based on the Foxglove that will be displayed alongside the Forsythia and Iris prints.

Meanwhile on the other end of the print table, Annie’s working on a Blackberry print. Check out her progress here:

Passion Flower

A repeat print created earlier in the project inspired by a passion flower and experimenting with a different colour palette, love the combination of moss green and plum tones.

Translating my Drawing into Prints

Taking the original sketch of the forsythia, I enlarge the drawing, blowing it up to a much grander scale using the good ol’ photocopier, then piece it all back together.

From looking at the now giant plant, I create stencils to screen print with taking into consideration colour separation and how I’ll be able to create depth by building up layers of colour.

Stencil cutting and working out colour separation, a lengthy process.

Once the stencils are cut, printing can beginning. The first layer always looks like an unrecognisable shape, but by the fifth the plant has taken form.
